Manchester United Beaten By Copenhagen

Manchester United has a low chance of qualifying for the Champions League round of 16 after a 4-3 defeat against Copenhagen on Wednesday night.

It was a fresh start for United after Saturday’s 1-0 win against Fulham. It was United who began scoring through Hojlund struck his second.

But lucky Copenhagen was handed a lifeline back into the event when Marcus Rashford was given a straight red card. The Danish side used the opportunity and got one goal back through Mohamed Elyounoussi, that’s before Diogo leveled the game from a penalty award for United handball.

Disregarding being down to ten men, the United fought and controlled the game and retook the lead in the second half, by being awarded the penalty for handball. Bruno Fernandes magically converted a penalty to make it 2-3.

Nevertheless, Manchester United caved in and conceded two amazing goals from Lukas Lerager and Roony Bardghji to hand Copenhagen three points.

Marcus Rashford’s red card

Everything was going well for United for the first 25 minutes and Rasmus

Hojlund’s two close-range goals kept United in control.

Then, in 42 minutes, the referee was called to check on Marcus Rashford’s indiscretion. After the review, a red card followed.

Dramatic penalties

United were in shock when referee Rasmus pointed for a penalty for Copenhagen on the stroke of half-time. VAR claimed that Harry Maguire handled the ball inside the box, Copenhagen took the opportunity to level the game and Goncalves sent Andre Onana the wrong way.

But this was not the only penalty awarded during the match. with the lined scoreboard 2-2, Manchester United were handed the opportunity to take the lead after Maguire’s sliding header hit Lukas Lerager’s hand. Rasmus was forced to go check the reply on the screen after the VAR handball suggestion, Bruno Fernandes was the one who smashed the ball into the net after the penalty award to give United a lead of 2-3.

Late crumble

83 minutes Rasmus Falk plays it into the box, and Lukas Lerager gets on the end of the cross to put it into the bottom right corner to make it 3-3.

Then in 87 minutes, Roony Bardghji showed good composure inside the box to fire a first-time shot inside the right post making it 4-3.

Erik Ten Hag comments about the match

Marcus Rashford red card: I was very disappointed cause he played very well, we were winning the game then the red card changed everything because we conceded two goals before half, time which never have counted, because the first one was offside, second a penalty which has happened in four games. I think VAR is a very hash that freezes replay which makes it much worse plus it takes so long to review which makes them add more time which discourages one side and gives an advantage to the other team.

About the game: I am very disappointed because the game was not meant to be like this, There are so many decisions against us but we will keep going and I hope one moment this season will turn in our favor. Even with ten men, we were playing very well and we were very disappointed that in the end, we took nothing.

About Johnny Evans: I’m not sure at this moment he has to come off I think it was a pity because he was part of it, a good part in the game where we were controlling. but we have more players and a good replacement for his position

About Bruno Fernandes hit by something from the crowd: No I didn’t see that.
